Piumette
PIUMETTE (Italian for feathers) is one of Mariano Fortuny's early designs: a small-scale geometric motif of fanned-out feathers arranged in a repeating Persian-inspired composition. Its source tradition — the Persian celebration of birds and flight as symbols of freedom and transcendence — gives the pattern a depth that belies its delicacy. At the small repeat scale, PIUMETTE creates a surface of remarkable optical refinement: close enough to read as individual feather forms, far enough to read as a luminous, textured field. It is one of Fortuny's most versatile patterns, suited to tightly upholstered furniture, fine drapery, and wall panels where a quiet, ordered surface is required. Part of THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE collection, available in jewel-tone emerald, petrol, and pale lavender gold.
